Interestingly, the media coverage of and the political reaction to Mamdani's campaign and primary victory was so clumsy and ham-handed that it (at least in my anecdotal experience) broke through even with people who aren't normally attuned to anti-Muslim bigotry in the US. To me, this shows how thoroughly the pro-Israel machine in the US has broken itself down in order to keep the genocide going.

Compare Mamdani's victory to another case from September, 2024 that was similarly dripping with anti-Muslim, ani-Palestinian hate but didn't solicit the same recognition among the general public: https://www.metrotimes.com/news/tlaib-slams-nessel-for-targeting-pro-palestinian-students-at-u-m-a-dangerous-precedent-37343930

To summarize: Rashida Tlaib accused Nessel of bowing to the University of Michigan Board of Regents and prosecuting pro-Palestine students disproportionately for their protest activities on campus. Nessel publicly (baselessly) accused Tlaib of saying that the reason Nessel targeted these students is because Nessel is Jewish. Jake Tapper repeated that accusation credulously in an interview with Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer. Dana Bash then also repeated this accusation on CNN. Bash (never Tapper, to my knowledge) then offered a mealy-mouthed clarification that did not actually admit that CNN had slandered Tlaib. This whole episode went generally uncommented on in the US mainstream press.

My point is: among all the horrors, I'm mildly optimistic that the tactics employed by the Israel-machine in the US are no longer working the way they once did. I'm sure (as a prior commenter stated) that the machine will roll out more forceful tactics in response; but these are easier to spot, easier to get your average American to notice and engender some indignation, and hopefully easier to leverage to dismantle the machine itself.

And this is why public trust in the media (Colbert is part of the prevaricating media) in western ‘democracies’ is nil. So the media, universities and governments have all been slaughtered at the alter of American empire.. what else is left for empire managers but brute force? They had this giant machine geared towards ‘winning the hearts and minds’ and its creaking and no amount of grease will make it run smoothly again..
